Empact Northwest Rescue Systems II
Rescue Systems 2 is an advanced 40 hour technical rescue and urban search and rescue course designed for firefighters, EMS providers, and law enforcement officers. This course is designed to provide the participant with a skill set allowing them to perform advanced rescue skills after a disaster, operating as a member of a crew and using complex tools and materials.
Key topics include: survival, search capabilities, structural triage and recon, collapse patterns, structural hazard identification, building monitoring, shoring construction, breaching, breaking, cutting, lifting and moving, tool applications, and assessment, metal burning operations and simulated rescue exercises.
This course meets or exceeds the standards set by NFPA 1670 and the California Office of the State Fire Marshall, which created the Rescue Systems 2 curriculum. This course is taught by current Rescue Specialists from EMPACT’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force who are also current Fire Service based technical rescue providers and instructors.
Members who wish to attend this course must meet prerequisite requirements (Rescue Systems I) and include a completion certificate with course registration.
This course is predominantly hands-on and physically demanding. A professional mindset and emphasis on safety will be mandatory at all times. Training and scenario exercises will be conducted in all weather conditions and may involve extended operational periods to simulate real world scenarios.
