Empact Northwest’s mission is to “Respond to Disasters, Train Responders, and Prepare Communities”. We are a small but growing locally based, globally reaching nonprofit disaster response organization, specializing in urban search and rescue, disaster medicine, and disaster mitigation and preparedness programs. We respond to global disasters, conduct Rescue Schools training local emergency responders in urban search and rescue skills, and help communities prepare for disasters, aimed at empowering neighborhoods to facilitate resiliency.
Overview
The Fundraising and Outreach Specialist will be responsible for driving fundraising campaigns and donor engagement and retention for Empact Northwest, with a goal of increasing organizational fundraising, growing the number of permanent donors, maximizing revenue, expanding outreach opportunities, strengthening mission connectivity, and enhancing the fundraising event experiences. They will be expected to take initiative and be a self-starter able to work independently of others and to excel in a collaborative environment. They must maintain professionalism, show flexibility, be customer-service oriented, have a strong attention to detail, handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, and remain composed under pressure of deadlines. The Fundraising and Outreach Specialist must be able to effectively communicate the mission, values, and scope of Empact Northwest.

Compensation
- $15.00 per hour
Work Schedule
- Variable, up to 20 hours per week
- Telecommute/ work from home/ maintain your own generally unsupervised schedule
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an improved organization-wide fundraising strategy with plans to support the same; expanding on current organizational strategies, plans, and practices.
- Identify, recruit, and cultivate high-value donors to steward meaningful engagement with our mission and community to ensure attainment of organization revenue goals.
- Work with volunteers, donors, interns, and committees to maximize their personal fundraising efforts, developing and implementing appropriate strategies, cultivation activities, and acknowledgement.
- Provide excellent customer service to all donors, participants, and teams by responding promptly to requests and providing consistent year-round communication.
- Develop marketing and social media materials to promote fundraising activities.
- Act as an on-site manager during our annual Gala and supporting other fundraising events, overseeing activities, and managing vendors and volunteers to ensure a high-quality experience for donors and partners.
- Implement organizational best practices with regard to recruiting and managing high-level volunteers, revenue generation activities, expense and fiscal controls, and marketing/promotions and logistics resulting in Organizational revenue growth and achievement of revenue goals.
- Provide input on the strategic plan for campaigns, including fundraising goals, budget recommendations, volunteer/community engagement, timelines, and more.
- Identify and network with corporations, community groups, health care and patient organizations, and key donors to engage and grow their support of Empact Northwest.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Empact Northwest’s mission and programs to promote the organization's fundraising, research, and initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- Experience recruiting and maintaining donor relationships
- 2– 3 years fundraising or sales experience
- 1 – 2 years communications/outreach, event planning experience
Position Requirements:
- Ability to effectively demonstrate your experience and skills developing and implementing fundraising campaigns, and managing annual fundraising events.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate your experience and skills recruiting and maintaining working relationships with active donors for Empact Northwest.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of digital, social media & emerging online channels
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations
- Work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations
- May be required to move Campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds for various events.
- Travel as needed to complete job duties.
- Telecommute and work from home, maintaining your own schedule, with minimal, remote supervision.
